March 01, 2025 – Regina, Sask. – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces
The cadets of 41 Hercules Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron participated in a squadron March-A-Thon at the HMCS Queen building in Regina, Sask., on March 1st 2025. The goal being a flight of cadets marching for all 6 hours, this was obtainable through switching cadets every 15 minutes.
The March-A-Thon promotes the importance of physical fitness and enhancing teamwork in the squadron. For the intermission between marching, cadets were provided with a variety of activities including coloring, video and board games, movies, and sports.
Warrant Officer First Class (WO1.) Sophia Greenley, one of the planners and commander for the March-A-Thon, stated “I think it was empowering that we were able to, as a squadron, march for the full 6 hours. It’s not often that you hear about an achievement like that!”
During the March-A-Thon cadets showed instant improved drill and morale. This confidence motivated cadets to push past their expectations in reaching the final 6 hour mark, and empowered their love for the Cadet Program.
After the success of the March-a-thon, WO1. Greenley would love to have the opportunity to plan and command the following March-A-Thon, to empower cadets to improve skills and display their love for the Cadet Program.
The Cadet Program is open to all youth between 12-19 years of age and provides them with opportunities to develop leadership skills that will last a lifetime.
