Operation: Alberta Aviation Adventure Trip

Written By: FSgt Keller

Cadets from 41 Hercules Squadron went on the Alberta Aviation Adventure trip that ran through April 22, 2025 till April 25, 2025.

The places the cadets ventured included the Saskatoon Aviation Museum, The West Edmonton Mall, the Reynold’s Museum in Wetaskiwin, and The Bomb Commander Museum in Nanton, Alberta.

In Edmonton, the cadets began building relationships and leadership skills. The other locations that the cadets visited worked to teach them and spark up an interest about aviation revolving around Canadian History.

Sergeant (Sgt) Jon Wall, one of the cadets on the trip, recalls the best destination being in Nanton where they visited the Bomber Command Museum. There, cadets saw one of the two only functioning Lancaster’s on earth.

Lancaster’s were a huge part of World War Two, Sgt Wall explains, “that place was full of extremely detailed niche history about our Air Force, especially in World War Two”.

Along with a powerful past, our squadron was given the chance to see an exhibit about the beginning of air cadets and see how to restore multiple historical aircrafts! In Sgt Wall’s words, “this very museum reflected what we do at air cadets the best.”

When he looks back, Sgt Wall reminisces the trip as an “unequivocally beneficial” time where he grew to bond with his senior cadets and take a chance to lead the younger cadets in a non-parade night occasion.

Overall, the Alberta Aviation Adventure trip that cadets took over the Easter break worked to teach them about aviation and air cadet history, as well as what it takes to be a responsible leader.
