Annual Ceremonial Review

The Squadrons Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) will be held on Wednesday 29 May 2013. This is the last parade of the year! It is also extremely mandatory you are in attendance. This parade is also open to the parents, Family and Friends to watch. There will be a few HIGH Level awards handed out at this parade, a Special Reviewing officer and possibly displays after the parade.

Cadets are asked to arrive around 6:00PM to help setup Chairs and make final touches to their uniform and parade positions.

Parade starts at 6:30 as usual, parents, family and friends are asked to be seated no later than 6:45pm. The RO takes the dias shortly after.

Grave Cleaning:

The squadron is conducting the last mandatory citizenship activity of the year.  We will be cleaning the soldiers graves at the Riverside Cemetery (on Assiniboine Ave E off the end of University Park Dr.) on Sunday 2 June.  The site is near the back of the Cemetery.  NOTE:  Construction may still be blocking University Park Dr.  Please research routes on Google Maps and take appropriate routes.

Meet at 9am, pickup at 1:00pm.  Work gloves come in very handy if you have them.  NO UNIFORMS.  Parents are most welcome to stay and help if you wish.  We will be scrubbing headstones, raking around headstones and other tidying up as required.  **Lunch provided.

Spring Field Exercise:

The Spring field Ex will be held on 7-9 June 2013 in Rowan’s Ravine.
Cadets will meet at the Armoury on Friday 7 June at 4:00pm and will return home on Sunday at 2:00pm.
Kit lists will be handed out next week.

If you have NOT YET been on a field Ex this year, YOU MUST ATTEND this one to pass your level.  If you have not signed up yet, please do so on Wednesday night.

Parent/Sponsors need help
The year is winding down, however the Sponsors still need your help through the summer.  Beer sales at the Rider games (adults) and other events.  These fundraisers are crucial to the operation of the Squadron in 2013/14.  Please watch your e-mail, facebook and the website throughout the summer.  PLEASE HELP.

VIMY RIDGE 2017

The Squadron is going back!  We did this trip on the 90th Anniversary and we are going back for the 100th in 2017.  Cadets in Level 3 and down are all eligible and those Cadets that age out in the training year (2016/17) will still be eligible.  The cost so far is looking like $4000/person and payment schedules will start in Sept 2013 for those who plan to attend.  Details will be sent out shortly and updated as the years go on.  This is an expensive trip but one your Cadet will remember for years.  This is one of the most historic battles EVER in WW1 and put the Canadian military on the map.  We have not firmed up any details, however, the Cadets will see more than just Vimy.  We will be going to many cities along the way.  The last trip took us to some cities such as London & Paris to name a couple.
