Winter Field Exercise
Cadets to meet at the Armoury at 4:30PM for a departure of 5PM. Please eat before coming to the Armoury or bring a HEALTHY bag lunch to eat prior to going or on the bus. All food must be disposed of before entering the Barracks at Saskadet.
Kit lists will be handed out on Wed and posted on the Webpage. Remember Sleeping bag & Pillow. Also, remember that it is Winter and we will be working outdoors so winter clothing is a MUST. See kit list for all necessities.
Those Cadets writing Finals next week (School) are encouraged to bring their Studies with them and there will be 6 hours of bus ride plus time in the evening to study.
We should arrive home around 5PM on Sunday.
The temperature in the area on the weekend is suppose to be about -1C during the day and around -10 at night. Subject to change of course.
All forms are due Wed Night. That includes National Course packages that were sent home last week (school marks, reference letters, essay etc.)
– Effective speaking packages are now available from 2Lt. K Drew. First draft of speeches are due February 5, please bring them to cadets with you so 2Lt K Drew can review them.
On Wed 22 Jan 2014, we will have a sports night at the Nortown Bowling Lanes on Rochdale Blvd (located in the strip mall across from the Doug Wickehiser Arena). cadets will meet between 6:45PM-7Pm and will be dismissed at 9PM. NO UNIFORMS. We will NOT be at the Armouries that night. Please drop your Cadets off and pick up at the Nortown Bowling Lanes.
Sign up tonight as the team needs to be entered by next Wednesday. We will be practicing on Sunday afternoons 1 – 3 starting Feb 2 if this goes ahead. We need a minimum of 7 people to make a team.
For any cadets who wrote their pilot exams last week 2Lt. K Drew will have the information on obtaining your Transport Canada Flight Medicals tonight.
Those Cadets that have applied for Senior Summer Courses (level 3 Cadets and up). You must sit on and pass a selection board in February. More info in the next week or so. If you have not yet received a Selection Board guide, see Capt Sweitzer or 2Lt K. Drew
Duke of Ed Program
If you are already enrolled in the Duke of Ed program and are interested in a Week Long Trip to Kananaskis please see 2Lt S Drew for an application. Here are the details we have from the DofE office:
Canadian Tire Money:
The squadron collects Canadian Tire Money, so rather than having those 5 and 10 cent papers floating around your house bring them in and we will put them towards equipment for the unit.

The parents committee is doing a steak night at Bocado’s on Feb 2. Tickets are $20 each for adults and $12 for kids 10 and under. Order forms are due next week (Jan 22). See Julie Amundson for more information.
Vimy Ridge – April 2017
Those cadets that are still under 19 years of age in 2017 are eligible to attend a trip to Vimy Ridge in France to participate in the 100th anniversary. More details will be out shortly. This is going to be funded by the most part through the Cadet family and NOT the Squadron. This is a heads up and an initial signup will likely start in the next couple of weeks.
