Announcements – 22 April 2015

Sports Night:
Reminder, this Wednesday night is sports.  Please DO NOT wear your uniform and wear appropriate sports attire.  If you have not yet done the PT testing you must be there that night to complete it.  This is a requirement for promotion and not completing it this night will result in a fail (this is the third attempt to get all cadets through this testing).
Range
There will be range on Sunday from 12pm – 3pm for any cadets that would like to shoot.  There are nine open spots.  NO UNIFORMS.
This past weekend, both WO2 Gehring and Cpl Schenk shot in the Provincial Competition.  Wo Gehring was 3rd over all in the Open category for Standing and Second overall combined (standing and Prone).  Cpl Schenk was 2nd overall in the Junior Category for standing and 2nd Overall combined.  Both competitors were selected to compete at NATIONALS on the Team Saskatchewan Composite team (made up from the top 5 shooters outside the winning Saskatchewan team).  Captain Sweitzer was chosen to coach the team.  The saskatchewan portion of the  National Competition was shot on Sunday.  The overall National Results have not yet been posted but both Cadets did very well.

Level One Cadets – Tour:

The Airport tour has been rescheduled to WEDNESDAY 6 MAY 2015 at the Regina Airport.  The Level One Cadets will be dropped off and picked up from the Airport that night and will not be at the Armoury.  Parents, please make sure to have your Cadet to the Arrivals area before 6:25PM that night so that the tour can start immediately at 6:30pm.  we hope to be done at 8:30 that night so please be at the Arrivals area for that time (if the time changes before 6 May I’ll update this announcement).  Cadets should be in full uniform and the uniform should be top form.  The tour will include some areas of security, Flight Operations, Firehall and ATC.

Sponsor Committee
The Sponsor Committe is looking for people who would like to be part of the parent’s committee next year. Nominations have started, voting will take place the next parent meeting which is on May 6.

Positions available are:

Chair

Treasurer

Secretary

Vice Chair

Also we are  looking for somebody to organize volunteers for Rider game beer sales.  The beer sales are done in conjunction with the Optimist club and a portion of those funds are returned to the Squadron.  This has been a very big fundraiser for the Squadron in the past and we really need someone to take on this role.  The games we do are the home games so you really just need to commit a bit of time to get a few adults per game to fill our requirement at the 9  or 10 games in the season.

Please consider being an active participant in the Sponsor committee.  The more participants there are, the lighter the work load.  The Committee is one of three important aspects of the Squadron (CADETS, SPONSORS and OFFICERS).  Without one of these three key components the Squadron fails to succeed.  Please see a Sponsor Committee member or come out to the Monthly Meeting(s) on the First Wed of the month.
SUMMER TRAINING and Supplies:
Those Cadets that have applied for summer course, whether you have been selected or not, must see Captain Sweitzer BEFORE Wed 6 May to be sized for a Tilly hat and Blue PT t-shirt.  You will require this for Summer Training if you get selected.  I Must Order this immediately to ensure it is received by the end of May.

Mess Dinner and Awards

The Squadron’s year end “mess” dinner and awards will be held on Wednesday 20 May 2015 at the Royal Canadian Legion on Cornwall St.  The Dress will be full uniform But with a White shirt and black bowtie.  If you can’t get a white shirt/bowtie, please just wear the full uniform.  The Dinner will be for the CADETS only and other invited guests.  The Awards will be at 8:00pm and OPEN to parents at that time.

Annual Ceremonial Parade
The FINAL parade night of the year will be on Wednesday 27 May 2015. This will be out Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR).  This parade will have a Guest RO (the OC of the 38 Brigade) and is open to family and friends.  A few awards will be handed out at this time.
