Help Camp Saskadet! Vote Now!

As a frequent user of camp Saskadet, we’re fortunate to have a facility such as this available.  It’s the only such facility in Saskatchewan, where as all other provinces have facilities directly supported by DND.  Camp Saskadet is completely funded by the Air Cadet League of Saskatchewan the the majority of its operating costs covered through donation and use of the camp.

Aviva has established a one million dollar community fund which will be distributed to groups and organizations that gain the most votes.   Saskadet has been short-listed as one of the potential communities to receive funds, but it needs your votes!  You can vote once per day, per person until October 23rd.   Your votes may be the ones who help ensure Saskadet is awarded some of these much needed funds.

Below is the information posted on the Aviva Community Fund page.  Click the link below and create an account to vote for your camp!

Survival of the Fittest

As expected, 41’s survival course cadets are to doing  well at the Cold Lake survival wing this summer.  Thanks OCdt Kinneberg for the photo!

To see pictures of your own cadets at their training centres, from the Links menu above click on the Summer Training Centres.  There you will find the URLs for their photo sites.

Google Calendar Issue

There is an issue with Google Calendar at this time whereby neither the sidebar nor the Calendar under the menu are populating events, future or past.  This will likely be fixed soon but its a good time to mention that you can add this calendar directly on your phone.

There are a couple ways you can do this

1) If you have a gmail account, you can click on the +Google Calendar image at the bottom of the calendar. It will ask you to log into your gmail account, and then ask if you want to add this shared calendar to your own.

2) You can add a shared calendar to most smart phones.

Major Reg Tweten – Departure with Dignity Parade

Tomorrow night marks a special occasion for 41 Squadron.  Major R. J. Tweten, a 49 year veteran of the Canadian Forces, valued friend, leader, mentor and officer with 41 for the past 12 years, will receive his final parade at the Regina Armoury.

To mark this auspicious occasion, Her Honour, the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield, SOM SVM, will be in attendance to present the Major with his certificate.

Throughout his career he has influenced and enriched the lives of many, cadet and adult alike and it’s our pleasure to host many of those people at the armoury for his departure.
